This extra credit will go toward your upcoming exam on molecular genetics, DNA and RNA. The points will not carry over to any other exam or quiz. 

 Instructions: Franklin endured numerous hindrances throughout her DNA journey. She was a
perfectionist, so by the time she discovered a model of DNA, it was too late. She also was not
part of the Crick-Watson team, the men who most often get recognized for the discovery of
the structure of DNA. However, Crick and Watson largely owe their discovery to Rosalind
Franklin’s data. That being said, Watson, Crick and Wilkins were awarded the Nobel Prize,
with no mention of Rosalind Franklin. For this assignment, write a letter from the perspective
of Franklin, advocating for herself about why she should receive partial credit for the
discovery of the structure of DNA.

Your letter must be a page long, double spaced. There must be no spelling errors and must be from the POV of Rosalind Franklin.

When you are finished and handed in your retake for the open ended portion of our last exam please complete the following activity. This will be tomorrow at the start of class.

Black History Month starts on February 1st. This is an extra credit opportunity worth 10 points towards your next exam. This extra credit can only go towards THIS EXAM only, you can not hold on to the points for any future exams. I advise that either way whether or not you think you need the extra credit still do this assignment, you will learn about Black scientists who contributed to the science community and Henrietta Lacks.

Monday 1/23/23 we have classes and then the rest of the week is regents week so none of you will be in school unless you’re taking a regents exam. With that being said we will be spending the class doing something fun!

We are going to be having a “PowerPoint Night” which is a Tik Tok trend (I attached a Tik Tok for you to see examples that are SCHOOL APPROPRIATE).

With that being said please fill out the Google Form BY FRIDAY 11:59 pm.

Some criteria-

1. Must be SCHOOL APPROPRIATE (Ms. M must have access to view it before Mondays class. So you must upload it to Google Classroom by Sunday night 9:00 pm)

2. Presentation must be no longer than 3-5 minutes so we can get to everyone who choose to present theirs.

3. This is meant to be fun so pick a fun topic, again it is casual so I advise all of you to give it a shot!
