As stated by Piaget, “To
make sense of the world around them, young adolescents, as learners, build upon
their individual experiences and prior knowledge,” (1960).
“Students are
challenged by their lesson and can learn from their information.”
This project
involves all students and will allow you to take an active part in your
learning.
I hope
that this increases your retention of the content and makes the education
process more fun.
Be active in the
development of your learning, establish self-directed learning, and make the
learning process more interesting and inspirational.
Process:
1. You
will work alone. I want to provide the highest level of comfort possible.
2.
Each student will draw one area of study from my provided container. You will teach
the topic of study to the class in order. You will use information from your
previously learned topics, as well as new information that you will learn.
3. Now
that you are aware of your primary topic, you must narrow your focus to providing
your classmates with more specific details. As you create the lesson, try to use
mathematical vocabulary terms and apply focus explanations for clarity of topic
content.
4.
Create a Google Slides Presentation for your lesson (minimum 10 slides there is
no maximum).
Class Time for
Presentation Planning
1.
You will begin to plan your presentation. I will sit with each of you to review
your topic and aid in decision-making regarding the specific information and
the way you want to teach the lesson. Ask yourself, “ how do I want to
begin my presentation”?
2. Your
Google Slides presentation must include:
A) A
learning objective – What will your classmates learn during your presentation?
(a heading or your aim) Write a statement specifying what you will
explain to the class today.
B)The
body of the presentation- Clearly explain your topic in a detailed manner to
motivate and give clarity.
Be creative
C) The
closing of your topic must reinforce the taught lesson and include student
practice.
D) Create a closing activity (quiz or
worksheet or on board) – this will
assess how well your classmates understood your presentation
You must present at least four or more examples
to encourage understanding of the topic presented.
E) Your presentation should last at least 40
minutes or one class period. If additional time is necessary feel free to let
me know.
The final processes of the project are self-assessment and
reflection. This portion of the project helps students identify personal
strengths and weaknesses for future learning. Your classmate will assess
you or your group and grade each other based on their contribution to the
presentation. It is empowering for students to reflect on themselves and
their work to improve.
Make sure to upload to Google Classroom all of the
pertinent information you used and created for your class lesson:
A) a worksheet
B) a plan for your presentation which should consist of a minimum 75 words
essay
Include any
specific information related to the lesson, explain any included games or
activities to check for understanding, and the closing activity.
C) All students
will be evaluated for the presentation.
NOTE:
1)
Objective clearly stated – what are your expectations during the class? (10)
2)
When opening or closing the class- try a
Kahoot, a game, or a few examples on the board.
3)

Where am I going? $500,000 Project Guidelines
Created and developed by Ms. Hollingsworth
Grade Process:
There will be three parts to this report, each part is worth a total of 100%
Imagine that you have just inherited $500,000.
One of the conditions for you to receive the money is that you must first investigate,
research, and present how you will spend it.
Your goal is to spend the entire $500,000
and prove that your way of spending it is the most sensible for a student in college.
You will work in teams of no more than two people to complete all tasks.
The first report will include the following requirements:
(The following guidelines must be followed for full credit)
Part 1) COLLEGE:
You must pay off your college fees, books, and tuition for the entire year.
A) Choose a college - explain your choice(if you are working in a group of two you must choose two colleges)
Make sure the college or university is one you will be attending next year or have an interest in presently.
B) Each person must choose an area of study and explain why he/she chose the field. In this explanation place your tentative salary once you achieve your diploma.
C) Be detailed about all costs ( the more detail the higher the grade you will receive).
Look at that college’s website to determine how much it will cost to attend per year and for four years.
Most websites will list the estimated annual cost for attending one year.
(Determine how approximately much your school will cost over the total of four years.)
D) Explain how much you will spend on books for classes and courses of study.
E) Explain your expenses related to supplies/in-school learning that you will need which related to school.
Explain the cost for various needs for school (Pens, pencils, etc...)
(All Items must be newly brought) Investigate well... Lots of sales are happening now...
F) You will make a slide show on Google of your finding (minimum 15 slides).
COMPLETE the slides by January 4th, 2022. (Points 25)
G) Write a 200-word essay on your findings. Your report must be written in essay form (worth 50 points). The written work is due December 21, 2022. Your essay must be submitted or uploaded here for credit. Late reports submitted after December 21, 2022, will receive a 50-point deduction.
H) You will present your findings in class starting January 5th through January 18th, 2022 in alphabetical order.
You must use your Slide Presentation during that time. Upload Your google slide here promptly on January 4th, 2022. ( Worth 25 points when done on time) 10 points off each day you are not prepared.
Make it interesting folks. You can do it.
